Intelligent Transport Systems and services (ITS) are the integration of information and communication technology in transport infrastructures, both in vehicles and for users benefit.

The importance of ITS is to meet a need in terms of safety and interactive guidance, and on a wider scale concerns all services linked to mobility.

A LARGE ITS MARKET

It is the leading French region in the railway sector, (10,000 jobs) with many top world-class constructors (Alstom, Bombardier, Siemens).

It is the 2nd largest logistics centre in France (5,600 companies and 58,000 jobs), with an efficient river transport network connecting the area to Northern Europe.

It is the 3rd place in Europe in the automotive sector, with 5 production sites (Renault/Nissan, Peugeot/Fiat, Toyota) and 150 motor vehicle equipment manufacturers.

It is the leading French metropolis for mail order business. 6 of the top 10 French B2C mail order have their headquarters in the Lille area, more than 200 mail order companies, 55% of total French Sales.
